What is Reels?
Instagram Reels is a new feature on the platform to create and discover short, fun, and entertaining video content on Instagram. And the latest video feature is now available in India and 50 other countries.
Reels allows you to create, edit, and share 15-second multi-clip videos with audio, effects, and new creative tools. You can share your Reels with your followers on feed, and with the wider Instagram community through a new space in the Explore section. And for more inspiration, not only do you see Reels from the accounts you follow, but also from popular and trending accounts on Instagram.
How to use Instagram Reels?
There are a variety of editing tools on the left side of the screen when you open the feature, to help you create a reel.
- Audio tool: The audio tool helps you add a song to your reel. You can either search for a song from the Instagram music library, or you can use your music. The process is really simple, just record a reel while playing your music. Your song or music will be attributed to you, and the public can create reels with your song on it.
- AR effects: You have access to an endless gallery of effects on Instagram. You can use it to record multiple clips with different effects.
- Timer and countdown: You can set a timer to record clips without holding the phone.
- Speed: You can choose to either speed up or slow down the content you selected to share, either audio or video.
How to create Reels?
- Open your Instagram camera, and select Reels from the bottom.
- Click on the notes icon to select the song you want to use on your reel. And then slide to find the exact piece of music you want to fit in your 15 second reel.
- Add a filter or an AR effect to your video.
- You can choose to edit the speed of your video by pressing the play icon.
- Then start recording your video. You can record it all at once, or multiple clips until it reaches 15 seconds.
- Finally, when you are happy with what you recorded, you can edit your clips further if you want, edit the cover photo with a video thumbnail, or add a cover from your camera roll.
